The Point of the Game

Your goal is to get a number of points closer to 9 and more than a banker has: two cards are dealt to you and a dealer and their sum determines a winner of the game. The interesting fact is that you can not influence the number of your points anyhow: everything that you have - 2 initial cards which show who is who.

There are only 3 variants you can bet on: Player, Banker and Tie: a player makes his bet before the cards are dealt (both faced down) and in such a way tries to guess who will be the winner.

There are 3 dealers (bankers) at the baccarat table and up to 14 players: one of them plays with a dealer and other ones can make their bets on who will be a winner. 2 other dealers help the 1^st one to count all the bets. Players gamble with a dealer one by one and if a player does not want to gamble he can choose not to play.

Card Values

A player should not be a mathematics genius in order to remember and be able to count the points he gets from his baccarat hand as it is very easy actually. Baccarat is played with six or eight 52-cards decks and each of them has a following value:

• An Ace = 1 point
• Face cards (Jack, Queen and King) = 0 points
• 10's = 0 points
• 2-9's = their number's value

Note! Remember that the highest number of points you can get at baccarat is nine! It means that if the sum of your cards is more than 9 then your points will be counted as the sum of its components.

For example:

Your cards are 9 and 6: 9 + 6 = 15 = 1 + 5 = 6. You've got six points!

Your cards are King + 3: 0 + 3 = 3. You've got 3 points!

Your cards are Ace and 10: 0 + 0 = 0. You've got Baccarat and unfortunately lose.

Your cards are 2 and 7: 2 + 7 = 9. You've got a Natural and won!

The Rule of the Third Card

As it has been already said, the number of cards dealt to a player and a dealer does not exceed two. However, there are some moments when both of them can ask for a third card: the rules concerning when a player or a dealer can receive the third card to his hand in order to change the final result of the game somehow are described by a casino, but they are common in general and are shown in the table below:
