Jackie Chan and Baccarat: Ruch Hour 3 and City Hunter
The Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan is known as a big fan of baccarat card game and he shows this fact in his films too. We speak here about two of them but the main one is Ruch Hour 3 of course where Jackie played the role of Chinese agent Lee and his partner was American agent Carter (played by Chris Tucker).
Ruch Hour 3, as well as two previous parts of this film, has become very popular and loved by many people thanks to amazing Carter's sense of humor and Jackie Chan's style of acting which is well-known and loved by audience of different ages.
Together with Rush Hour 3, it is also possible to find one more Jackie Chan's film where baccarat card game plays not the last role: it is City Hunter (1993) where Chan played the role of a detective hired to find the daughter of one Japanese publishing magnate.
Rush Hour 3 (2007)
Chief Inspector Lee: You know nothing about me! Kenji: I do know that you don't have a wife or kids, you have nothing, just like me! Detective James Carter: I wouldn't say nothing. He has me his brother from another mother. |
This time, Detective Carter and Inspector Lee have to go to Paris in order to protect a woman who knows the secret Triad's leaders. Moreover, Lee has a meeting with Chinese criminal who appears to be his lost brother. Anyway, Lee and Carter are still the same, with their jokes and ability to get in awful situations and solve them with chic.
One of Rush Hour 3 scene shows Carter at the baccarat casino table when he comes to flirt with a beautiful lady Genevieve; but the problem is that Carter does not know the rules of baccarat and gets 3 Kings which means zero and loss at baccarat. Carter is very surprised as he considered himself to be a winner with such "big" cards.
As the scene takes place in France, our heroes probably play Chemin de Fer, the French variant of conventional baccarat card game.
City Hunter (1993)
Ryô Saeba: How do I get to the casino from here? |
Jackie Chan is played the role of Ryo Saeba (City Hunter), a private detective who should find a daughter of a famous Japanese magnate; he suddenly appears at a big cruise ship where rich and influential people play casino games and spend time with luxury. One night when everyone sat at baccarat tables the cruise ship had been captured by terrorists: now City Hunter, together with helpers (a baccarat gambler, a lady from the police and some more people), should not only rescue the daughter he was hired for but also the crew and passengers of the whole ship.
It is a rather funny and interesting comedy to watch and relax.
